City Plaza is located at 810 Geylang Road, Singapore. The Plaza is an 18-storey building with 13 storeys containing 66 mid-size condos for industrial and rental purposes. Its five storeys are dedicated to the shopping mall and a food centre. City Plaza was one of the popular destinations for the shoppers during early years of its construction–during the ’80s and ’90s. It is still a favourite place for fashion lovers, retail shop owners, and food addicts.
Surrounding Area
City Plaza is located near Singapore Post Centre and Geylang Serai Malay village. Nearby amenities include Starbucks, Cold Storage grocery, Unity Pharmacy and so forth. Joo Chiat Complex and Sheng Siong Supermarket, and some banks are also within walking distance. Tanjong Katong Complex and Haig Road at quite nearby as well.
Inside the Plaza
City Plaza is one of the favourite destination for regular shoppers as there are several clothing stores, beauty salons, and jewellery shops. City Plaza attracts designers, fashion lovers, and other people who seek cheaper fashion alternatives, at a fraction of costs. You will obtain nice dresses and items within $10 or $15 from Refash, PEONY collection, Whitefiction, and some other stores located on level three and four. The buyers can bargain, even on single items.
City Plaza is also known to be the largest wholesale centre in Singapore. It houses stores that sell clothes and fashion items at wholesale rate when purchased in bulk. Such stores include Shoppers Mart, Posh Allure and My Beautiful Shoes.
Besides trendy clothing and accessories, there are some other shops, such as books, electronics, money changers and restaurants on different levels of the 5-storey plaza. There are a couple of message spots on different levels where you may have 8 minutes chair message at $2.
City Plaza is particularly crowded on Sunday and public holidays. Even though some shops on level three and four are closed on Sunday, level one and two will remain crowded. Sunday is also the time when lots of foreign workers, including Indonesian, Indian and Bangladeshi, visit the place. So, if you love crowd-free shopping, try visiting on weekdays.
Food in the City Plaza
The fifth floor of City Plaza is dedicated to food lovers where a number of restaurants and international fast-food chains are located. Handmade fried noodles, Arnold’s Fried Chicken, and Ban Mian from Poon Nah are some of the favourite items to many food lovers. There are snack shops and coffee shops, too. The list is extensive, and it is worth visiting the place for food and entertainment.
How to Go
City Plaza is approximately five minutes walking distance from Paya Lebar MRT Station. The plaza is also accessible from Dakota MRT Station. A couple of bus services are held near City Plaza, opposite to the City Plaza, and near the Tanjong Katong Complex. These include 2, 7, 13, 17, and 21. If you are driving, there is a basement area for parking. Parking cost varies on different days of the week.
