3 Ways Tote Bags Can Be Printed On For Customisation

Canvas tote bags in Singapore are perfect for promoting your branding and sales message, or as party favours for any events.

Not only is it affordable, but it’s also extremely sturdy, durable and useful as compared to other corporate gifts that are often left forgotten. With printing services, customisation is made possible as you’re allowed to add words, photos and logos easily to tote bags through a multitude of printing methods!

Learn the three ways to bring your ideas to life – as we breakdown each printing methods so you can choose the right match for your personalised tote bag!

Silkscreen Printing

Silkscreen printing transfers a design onto the fabric with up to five colours. Once your design has been approved, it will be arranged via different screens based on colour!

An elaborate stencil will be used to apply each colour to the canvas during the pressing stage, creating a screen specifically for each colour in the design.

Each screen is arranged deliberately to create the final image, with ink being applied to the stencil to press onto the fabric.

It’s a meticulous pressing process as it has to be squeezed with the right amount of pressure to achieve maximum print coverage. After printing, the fabric will be dried with a heat flash!

Heat Transfer Printing

Heat transfer printing applies custom design to fabric through a process that involves both heat and pressure.

First, the design will be transferred onto a special heat transfer paper. The heat transfer paper will then be appropriately positioned on the tote bag and pressed against the fabric using a heat press.

After a given time, the heat press will be listed – allowing the bag to cool, ultimately resulting in savvy-looking tote bags!

This method is an excellent option for designing and creating unique printed bags with its ability to render high-quality images with unlimited colour options. However, it only works with certain types of fabric, such as polyester, cotton, canvas, etc.

Sublimation Printing

Sublimation printing makes use of heat to seamlessly incorporate ink into the fabric so that these two components will come together as one.

Similar to heat transfer printing, the design will be printed onto a special paper. The inks used are converted into gas under high heat which will then be embedded into the fabric instead of laying on top like a regular print, so the design is less prone to fading.

The full-colour image won’t crack, peel or wash away from the canvas. If your design is very detail-oriented, then this would be the ideal printing method for you.

Adding on, there’s also a greater surface area to work with as it allows seam-to-seam printing. Sublimation printing works best with 100% polyester or polyester blend.

Or, if you want to go with a vintage or distressed look, a fabric with a lower percentage of polyester will give you that finish.

There is no best method because it highly depends on the style or design you want, the material used, and the number of tote bags you want to produce – which is why we’re here to help!
